The red panda is an elusive and mysterious mammal of the biodiverse Himalayan forests. They have also been called the "firefox", “lesser panda”, and “red-cat-bear”— the red panda has many nicknames.

We prefer "first panda" and "original panda" as western scientists described it 50 years before the giant panda, and gave pandas their name.

 Adult red pandas weigh-in slightly larger than a house cat. The head and body length of red pandas averages 56 to 63 cm (22 to 25 in), and their tails about 37 to 47 cm (15 to 19 in). Female Ailurus fulgens weigh 3-4.5 kg ( 6-10 lbs) on average while males are usually 4.5-6.2 kg (10-14 lbs). Sayani females are heavier and are typically around 7.3kg and Sayani males are 7.7kg
